Interactive Marketing Specialist- Salisbury, NC

The Interactive Specialist position will be administered onsite in Salisbury, NC. Reporting directly to the Sr. Interactive Marketing Manager, the Interactive Marketing Specialist will coordinate and execute activities pertaining to the development of interactive customer specific marketing communication, promotions and events.  This individual will focus our client’s websites and email newsletters as the key delivery vehicles for customer communication and promotion offer delivery. The Interactive Marketing Specialist will work with The Sr. Interactive Marketing Manager to generate tactical approaches to customer marketing.  This individual will help to lead the logistical execution of web-based marketing programs such as: electronic newsletters, personalized shopping lists, personalized ads and targeted email communications as well as targeted coupons and offers.  In conjunction with the Sr. Interactive Marketing Manager, the Interactive Marketing Specialist will work with third-party companies to develop content, customer targeting offer selection, communications to store operations, integration with other non-web marketing efforts, offer set-ups, copywriting, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

•    Ensure that all interactive offers for all banners are within provided redemptions budgets
•    Assist in the development, enhancement and optimization of all e-marketing vehicles to ensure our client’s digital communications are fresh, relevant and effective.
•    Under supervision of the Sr. Interactive Marketing Manager, help to manage vendor and internal activities (including schedules) surrounding the execution of web-based customer events, promotions and communications including targeted email and webpage design.
o    The Interactive Marketing Specialist will help maintain a promotional event Gantt chart showing the key steps, interactions and timelines associated with the event that is updated and presented to superiors weekly or as needed.
•    Under supervision of the Sr. Interactive Marketing Manager, monitor costs associated with assigned promotions and events. Working closely with third party vendors, department analytics and accounting to help track cost projections and regularly update actual costs.
o    The Interactive Marketing Specialist will use the prescribed formal communication documents to monitor the process continually throughout its life-cycle and keep the Sr. Interactive Marketing Manager updated on cost variances.

Key Duties:

•    Assist in the development of a planning document for event assignments.  Detailed plan will include all of the individual event elements, responsible party, program objectives, timelines and deliverable date.  Will assist in delivering planning documents to all concerned parties for planning and feedback. Must consistently deliver on plan.
•    Assist in the development of key measurements and insights required for execution of an event and/or communication of promotion.
•    Work closely with third-party companies to establish a delivery cost estimate based on the specifications of the delivery vehicle.  An example of this would be to deliver estimated delivery counts for specific email events and estimated redemption and response based on historical information.
•    Consult on creative design for all web-based communications, helping to ensure that the deliverable is in-line with the overall brand image.  This includes use of the correct artwork, colors, logos, messaging, tag phrases, etc.  Will assist in the development of creative design that meets the business objective of the event.  Will work with other areas of the company to develop content for all web-based communications.
•    The Interactive Marketing Specialist will have an indirect responsibility for data integrity within the loyalty program databases and will keep the Sr. Interactive Marketing Manager aware of any issues or concerns regarding data quality.  The Interactive Marketing Specialist will be an advocate to improve the quality of email addresses, growth of the email address database, strong opt out flag management and integration of third-party vendor information into our client’s databases.
•    The Interactive Marketing Specialist will develop a strong knowledge of the retail food industry trends and customer-specific marketing trends.  Individual must also develop a working knowledge of customer segmentation from a perspective of shopping behavior, geographic information, demographic information and life-stage/lifestyle segmentation.
•    The Interactive Marketing Specialist will work with the Sr. Interactive Marketing Manager to develop the correct offer based on the objectives of the event and the promotion budget.  Using historical data, the Interactive Marketing Specialist will assist in generating projections on redemption and response rates for various offers across varying delivery vehicles.  This position may work with outside data mining company.
•    This Interactive Marketing Specialist will assist in the creation of presentation material that is suitable for store ops and Senior Management.  These communications will show the event elements, promotion design, operational execution needs, other support and contact information.  Post event, these presentations will be revised to show key promotion results and learnings.

Qualifications and Skills:

•    1-2 years retail background and 1-2 years experience with web or interactive marketing preferred.
•    Bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing preferred
•    Must have strong project management skills, particularly in the area of task prioritization
•    Must possess basic financial planning and budgeting skills
•    Ability to interact with Internal/external contacts at all levels
•    Excellent and polished verbal & written communication skills are extremely important
•    Advanced skills in MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and  the ability and willingness to learn new software and programs
•    Knowledge of Web development language(s) like HTML, CSS, and XML a plus
•    Proficiency with basic reporting
•       Must possess a foundational understanding about Web content, usability, development and design
•    Some travel required (up to 25%)
•    No relocation is available for this position
•    Proficiency in file manipulation (compression/decompression)
•    Proficiency in use of FTP clients (transfer/retrieval).
